Pinky Speedie's Collection

Pinky has an artistic eye, and has taken some fine pictures of some of her collection in settings related to Nature. She writes: "I wonder whether you'll like my pictures - I've gotten carried away over the last few months and've been carrying my beloved Barks (my favourites) into the garden and photographing them (the Assistants in Jessops don't think I'm Barking mad:)) - they photograph strange things all the time). I read somewhere that Geoffrey Baxter wasn't really influenced by nature or words to that effect - I'm.....well......not sure that this is altogether correct."

Pinky started collecting 20 years ago when she bought a Kingfisher Double Diamond and an Aztec vase for 20p each. She says that the trueness of the colours and unusual designs astounded her (and still do) and she held on to them despite not knowing what she had. Back in January 2002 her neighbour popped in for a 'natter' and noticed the vases waiting to be cleaned 'Oh so you've got Whitefriars then', and after that Pinky hasn't stopped collecting. Some have been 'found for a pound' (just a few tube stops from Harrow and charity shops). She also was invited to a house where a Kingfisher Coffin vase was sitting on a windowsill filled with nuts and bolts and was destined to be thrown away.

All her living room is now Kingfisher and Purple having unconsciously decorated 'around' her vases, and she is looking at decorating a 'hot' room for Ruby, Tangerine and Ambers.

Here's Sky Blue 'Blizzard' Bark

Here's Cinnamon - I wasn't sure I liked the colour at the start of this obsession - how could I possibly be so wrong?
